The island of Kauai: beautiful greenery, warm sun, beaches, the ocean incredible sunsets, fruity drinks, nice people….this list could go on and on. Kauai is truly paradise and a place that you really should add to the top of your vacation list.
It’s fair to say that Kauai is by far one of our favorite vacation spots. We typically stay on the northern side of the island, in Princeville at the Westin Princeville. Although not right on a beach, there are pools onsite and there is a walking path down to the beach.
Within walking distance is the St. Regis, by way of sidewalks going by a golf course and the ocean. It’s quite the way to get some exercise in with those views! The bar at the St. Regis has a view unlike anything else. In the winter months, the bay experiences high tides which attract world famous surfers.
Nearby is the town of Hanalei, which you will quickly fall in love with. From fantastic restaurants to cute shops to a family friendly beach, Hanalei has it all.
Here are a few of our favorite restaurants in Hanalei:
- The Dolphin – featuring incredible sushi and seafood
- Baracuda – a tapas restaurant with a fun atmosphere
- Hanalei Gourmet – a good lunch destination, they will even pack you a cooler with sandwiches to go for a day on the beach
The Hanalei Beach is a popular destination to spend the day. Whether you want to lay in the sun, swim, surf, kayak or paddleboard, or take pictures of the beautiful scenery, you will be at the right place.
Whether looking for a relaxing or adventurous trip, Kauai is a perfect destination. Just keep in mind that life is a little bit slower there, it’s definitely got a South Pacific, “no worries” feel to it.
