Yes, you read the title correctly. A unique gourmet dining experience – close to home! It was at a place called Travail Kitchen. Take note, it was a dining experience. Not only was the food excellent, the whole experience was unlike anything we had ever experienced, it was a 14-20 course interactive meal.
We arrived about 20 minutes early for our 8:00 PM reservation at Travail for Alex’s birthday. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a drink, while taking in the unique setting. There were three different sections of the restaurant: the Travail experience side, the bar, and the Rookery. When it was time to be seated, we went to our table, where there was a grill already cooking some foods. We were joined by three other couples.
The servers and chefs were highly personable and friendly. Our courses would be brought to us individually and then we were informed what they were. The variety in presentation was spectacular. We tried everything from dry-aged sirloin to foie gras to blood sausage to custard. Quite the variety, but all excellent pairings.
Travail changes their menu in its’ entirety every couple months, but they do make small changes to the menu almost daily. It is definitely worth going back to!
